Day 1: Working for Euranet and Siren FM

My office and studio
After a long and tiring day travelling, I have arrived on the Costa Blanca.

After pitching an idea to the Siren FM’s station manager he agreed to let me spend my secondment to the radio station in Spain on the Costa Blanca.

I have spent 28 years of my life visiting this part of Spain and I consider the towns and villages that surround what was once the small fishing village of Moraira as my second home, but how well do I really know what is now a town and the people who live here?

This part of Spain is very popular with expatriates and many of them have seen the coast line change, but is it for the better? English people have been settling on this part of the coast for over 50 years, but more and more younger people are coming over here – is this because they dreamed of a better life? Or was it for the weather?

Over the next four weeks I am going to be telling expatriates stories from the Costas, young and old. I will be talking to people from the church, editors of local media and journalists, business owners and young English families who decided to move their lives from the UK in search of a better life.

You can hear all of these stories on Siren FM as well as listening to them on here.
