My name is Sam and I am food hoarder and I am not ashamed to admit it. If I had to be locked inside my house for a number of days due to some sort of disaster I know that I would not go hungry.
Not only do I hoard food but I can’t let anything go to waste. I saddens me when people put good food in the bin. If I have any of my evening meal left I can’t bring myself to throw it away. Instead it goes straight into one of the many tupperware tubs and either into my fridge to be used the next day. But more and more I am chucking stuff into my freezer.
Over the weekend I had a sort through the growing collection of odds in my freezer. I then had route through my fridge and then it dawned on me that I have so much food. Can you belive that I was going to go shopping after I did all of this? I soon changed my mind.
I have set myself a challenge and over the next 10 days I am going to be using up the growing collection of odds in my fridge and freezer as well as trying to reduce the amount of food I have in my cupboards.
I want to inspire you to do the same. Have a good route through your kitchen and take a look at what you actually have. It’s good for us all to take a step back and have a look at what we have in our cupboards, freezers and fridges. What can you make a meal out of that is tasty and delicious that is lurking at the back of your cupboard.
I shall let you know how I get on. If you can think of any recipe ideas for leftovers then I would welcome them. For now I am getting my thinking cap on.
